Philip Stone

Philip Stone from the Department of Tourism and Leisure Management of the Lancashire Business School at the University of Central Lancashire has looked into dark tourism in a different way, this being the economic one. They founded an institute for Dark Tourism. Stones said in 2005 that in the present people consume death and suffering in touristic ways putting the excuse of education and entertainment. In 2006, Stones also discussed that some suppliers of this tourism may have certain characteristics of this dark theme. He established the different types of tourists from light to dark: dark fun factories, dark exhibitions, dark dungeons, dark resting places, dark shrines, dark conflict sites and dark camps of genocide. He said as a final point in 2008 that this practices immorality in the people that make them.
